Cleaning Castles

It may not seem like an obvious thing to most people, or something that you ever actually consider... However, cleaning castles is an important part of our business. We only use safe products that don't act as irritants. However, it's not as easy as you might think... You can't use lots of different products as they tend to rot the thread that keeps the castle together (you can't go putting bleach on it, that's for sure!). However, you need to get it clean, so you can't use something that doesn't actually do anything...

We use a specially formulated Bouncy Castle Cleaning Fluid. It's quite expensive, but it's safe for children, actually does clean the castles and doesn't smell like a hospital.

We also use a steam cleaner. This may sound silly, but it's actually really important. We know this is normally reserved for the kitchen and bathroom tiles, but it works well on castles. It gets the deep dirt out, keeps them looking fresh, and also removes bacteria. It's no good just looking clean.

We're not over-exagerating, either. There are reports of children falling ill and getting Staph infections while using bouncy castles. The PVC is a good breeding ground for bacteria, and there are nooks and crannies that are hard to reach.

Lots of companies do not have premises to clean their castles regularly (or just do not care), it can be tricky find the space to inflate your castles and clean them. We're pretty lucky... We have a great relationship with a local pre-school... In return for us providing them with their bouncy castles for end-of-term parties and all their special occasions, we are allowed to use their hall at un-sociable hours to clean them.

Even if you do not hire from us, make sure you ask the company you hire from if the castle has been cleaned recently. You want it to turn up looking nice for the party, but you also need reassurance that it's not unhygienic.
