27 November 15 - New Soft Play!

New Peppa Pig Soft Play

Peppa Pig is wildly popular with toddlers, and we decided we would like to offer this theme in our soft play shape selection as well. It's now in our hands and available to hire, here.

This is a pretty cool selection. Most people offer a small amount of soft play shapes, but this is a 17 piece set. Soft play takes up room, it doesn't roll up like a bouncy castle, and it's pretty expensive, so you'll often find people charge a fortune for it, or offer you a small amount of the shapes, and pad out their package with other stuff they've purchased from Argos.

While you're reading this, we would like to let you know a little bit of inside industry information...

You used to find that manufacturers would only hand paint castles and soft play, because the bouncy castle industry had a slow time catching up with modern technology and the stresses and pressures that the equipment comes under made the artwork rub-off!

That's changed now, and you can reliably print on PVC. Hand painted stuff looks nice, and we have some ourselves. However, it can be hit and miss, and children increasingly want to see what they see on television, instead of a painted interpretation, so we generally stick to printed.

With printing though, there's two main groups of ink for PVC material used by soft play; Solvent based and Latex. There are sub-catorgories, but that's the two at a high level.

All of our soft play (and castles) use non-toxic, solvent free inks. We use latex printing for the soft play, as there is nothing toxic in it, and it's nicer to touch, too. It has a raised feel and texture to it, instead of saturating the ink into the PVC. Children (especially toddlers) chew, gnaw and shove everything that they can get their hands on into their mouth. They explore the world first through their mouths. Make sure when you hire soft play that you insist on solvent free, non-toxic printed items.
